Russian Uniform FAQ

Do I have to have an AK to be a Russian?

No, but of course we encourage you to use one if you have it.

Do I have to have Russian gear?

As long as the vest or other equipment covering your torso is not in the MARPAT, ACU, or MultiCam pattern you should be fine. Vests in woodland are fine but those in OD are highly recommended.

Do I have to have a Russian BDU?

No. OD (olive drab) and U.S. woodland will be fine but if you plan on playing on the Russian side. For future events, we suggest investing in proper Russian-patterned camouflage.

If I wanted to work on a Russian loadout what would I need?

This can be rather complicated for the beginner so here is a quick guide. The Russian Armed forces, which include their regular army, navy, and airborne use flora as their main BDU. Everyone else including spetsnaz have a wide variety of gear and camouflage patterns to choose from so take your pick. Regardless of whether or not you want to be regular army (paratrooper in 1st-Sword's case) or spetsnaz; black boots, black leather fingerless SWAT repelling gloves, and an OD head wrap would be very good items to have.

What BDU should I get if I am on a budget?

1st-Sword members use flora as our primary Russian BDU. You can buy flora on eBay from this seller or you can email Dmitri at sales@soviet-propaganda.com to place an order for flora.

Keep in mind that the eBay seller does not sell hats in flora so if you want a hat email Dmitri and he should have them available.

When buying flora, order your pants size one size larger than you think you are and don't machine wash them.

Also recommended is kamysh (tiger), berezka, and KLMK. Kamysh, berezka, and other patterns though not recommended will be tolerated can be found at www.red-soldier.com. For KLMK eBay search it and you should be able to find a seller, or try the Arms Deal section in Red Alliance forums.

What BDU should I get if I am not on a budget?

Spetsnaz will regularly wear partizan, ghorka, sumrak and even to this day KLMK. All can be obtained from Dmitri at Soviet Propaganda by emailing him to place your order or do an eBay search. Also try the Arms Deal section in Red Alliance forums.

Why do I have to email Dmitri at Soviet Propaganda to place an order?

From what I can tell, Dmitri gets most of his business from the www.red-alliance.net forums and does not update his webpage at all. Also, he has many many items not listed on the webpage, so if you want something just email him.
